The churchyard around St Bartholemew’s, the parish church of Great Gransden, filled up many years ago. A new cemetery has been set up in part of ‘The Dole’, a neighbouring field that is actually in Little Gransden. This active cemetery is managed by Great Gransden Parish Council, and there is an arrangement in place to allow its expansion when in due course it becomes full. If you wish to purchase a plot, please contact the Parish Clerk; fees were last revised in 2021, and a copy of the fee schedule can be found in this post.

Note for funeral directors
Please note that the Great Gransden Cemetery is owned and managed by the Parish Council, not by the church. If you need to install a gravestone, or arrange a funeral, please contact the Parish Clerk, even if you have already spoken to St Bart’s. Please be aware that access to the site for digging graves is limited, as all machinery has to be brought in through the Lychgate on Church Street, Great Gransden (see Lychgate on map) and then down a footpath and over a narrow bridge; also, in many cases hand-digging is required due to the proximity of trees and other graves. Any excess earth must be removed from the cemetery after the burial.
